The Vacation Calm Before the Blogging Storm

Before I dove head first into blogging, I went on a short vacation to Cancun. This was a real vacation which, according to my wife, meant no email or blog checking. I’m sure many people feel as I do, that if they don’t check their email or the news every few hours they feel like they’re missing something. Doing this for 5 days, however, can help you focus. I live in NY and everything moves at an extremely fast pace. I have over 30 RSS feeds that I try to read daily. When I leave them for a while and then come back, I wonder…do I really need all this information? The answer I’ve come to, is no. I don’t. And I highly doubt that any of us need all the information we consume daily. But where is the line between what is the right amount of information and too much information? I don’t know. What I do know is that not understanding what is going on in your industry can cost you your business. So I’m going to stick with my current strategy of consuming everything I can get my hands on and see where it takes me.
